American Heritage Girls and Boys Trail Life
As the school year at Ascension comes to an end, American Heritage Girls Troop IN-3125's and Trail Life Troop IN-0096's regular meeting schedule comes to an end as well.
We closed out our regular program year with our Bi-Annual Court of Honor on May 14th. The young men and women were recognized for their accomplishments, like learning about dance, astronomy, repentance, Christian heritage, to name just a few things.
The Annual Grand Prix race, on Saturday, April 13, was a huge success. We combined our event with a troop from New Haven, First Baptist Church. Several dozen families participated and there were tons of smiling faces.
With Summer weather shining bright, our troops will head to En Gedi River Resort in Leonidas, MI on June 8th to go canoeing and kayaking. Then the Trail Life Adventurers and Navigators (fathers and sons in 6-12gr) will head to Nunica, MI, St. Luke Lutheran Church, for a weekend, July 19-21. We will enjoy some biking, swimming, and fishing.
Finally, the whole Trail Life troop will close out the summer at Chain'O'Lakes state park over another weekend, August 16-18th.
Trail Life and American Heritage Girls
Trail Life and American Heritage Girls had a blessed month. Our boys and girls hosted Lenten Dinners. You may have seen them serving hot dogs, sandwiches, and soups. They also helped with set up and clean up. Additionally, you all gave a total of $1,040, which will be shared evenly with American Heritage Girls (AHG), Trail Life (TLUSA), PALS, and the school athletic programs.
Congratulations to Mr. Ruse. He was voted best chili during the 2nd Annual Chili Cook-off. Thank you to all who donated chilis, soups, sandwiches, and desserts.
Also, we hosted the annual Pancake Breakfast and Garage Sale. Thank you for all the donations. Over $800 was raised. This will be divided evenly between AHG and TLUSA.
This month we are preparing for the Annual Grand Prix. The boys and girls have been working hard designing wooden cars to race down the track. Two troops from New Haven will be joining us this year.
It's not too early to think about summer as warm spring weather is upon us. We are planning two camps, a day camp focusing on shooting sports and a resident camp in Nunica, Michigan, focusing on cycling.
