Our Philosophy of Education
In baptism, parents bring their children to the baptismal font, where they and the children’s sponsors promise that they will raise their children of God in the Christian faith. It is the job of a Lutheran school to serve as an extension of the Christian home to help parents carry out that promise. Therefore Ascension Lutheran School has been founded on the following premises:
The Bible is the inerrant and inspired Word of God and thus should be the cornerstone of each child’s education.
God created man perfect, but in the Fall, man turned from God and thus became dead in sin. God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Thus, it is imperative that each child should be nurtured in the Gospel through Christian education, and thus, through the grace of God, come to know Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior and grow in faith.
Jesus said, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37–39). Therefore this school will strive to teach each child to love and trust in God and treat others with kindness and respect. Each redeemed child of God will be instructed in the Word and thus equipped by the Holy Spirit to serve others in response to the great love God has shown through His Son’s death and resurrection.
Each child is precious to God. He tells His children, For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Therefore it is the school’s responsibility to see that each child receives a sound, high quality education to fully develop intellectually, emotionally, physically and spiritually and thus be prepared for that future.
Our Mission Statement
Ascension Lutheran Church has established this school to proclaim the Gospel to the next generation and to provide a quality education so that they can grow spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
